Movement-Assisted Deployment for Irregular Sensor Density in Wireless Sensor Networks

Most mobile sensors self-deployment research aims to design algorithms to uniformly distribute sensors in the sensing region. However, deployed Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) with regular sensor density do not meet all types of realistic requirements; for example, hot zones or heavy traffic load areas generally require more sensors to be deployed than other areas when the objective is to construct a long-lived WSN. In this work, we propose a mobile sensor self-deployment scheme to achieve irregular sensor density deployment. The simulation results show that our proposed method gains considerable improvements compared to other conventional deployment methods.
